Senior Membership

History

The senior section of the club was formed in 1956, and with a Regional squad and 5 other senior teams, the club has gone from strength to strength and now regularly competes in a number of different leagues. We encourage new members of all abilities to come and trial with us.

Training

Club training takes place on Thursday evenings throughout the winter months at Southbury Leisure Centre, just off Southbury Road, Enfield EN1 1YP. Girls are encouraged to attend training each week; the coaches prepare varied training sessions for all players.

8:00pm - 10pm (Seniors)

If attending for the first time, please contact Lindsay Enrights as club captain to ensure training is on. Please note that there is no training in the summer months.

The cost of training is included in the annual membership. For potential new members the first session is free of charge and the next two sessions will cost £2 each payable on the night. During that time new members will be assessed by the coaches and if a minimum standard of play or potential for improvement has not been displayed further attendance may be refused. After that the full membership fee will be required, with deductions for training fees paid to date.

Fees

The 2008/ 2009 membership fees for the club are Senior Member £170 for two leagues; £150 for one, Juniors/Student Member £100 for two leagues; £80 for one, Non-playing Membership £25

Membership fees include affiliation to All England Netball Association, London and the South East region, Middlesex County Netball Association, Club Training, affiliation to the Leagues, Monthly Club Newsletter, insurance and Membership Magazines from England Netball. There is no extra charge for umpires as we provide our own umpires from within the club.

Fees can be paid in full at the start of the season, or in three instalments; the first must be received at trials or before you play at the start of the season. If you are not selected and decide not to join the club for the forthcoming season your monies will be retuned to you.

If you join after the start of the season, then the fees will be levied pro rata

Teams

Palmers Green currently has teams entered in the following Leagues:
South East Regional League (alternate Saturdays - fixtures at central venues Kent, Surrey, East Essex, Middlesex);
Poly League (alternate Saturdays - home and away fixtures);
North London League (alternate Saturdays held at Broomfield Park);
Middlesex League (alternate Saturdays - held at Broomfield Park or Brunel University, Uxbridge).

Broxbourne League (Monday evenings at Turnford).

The club also enters a number of summer leagues.

Fixtures are available on selection for the teams.

Selection

Team selection is conducted through club trials, which are normally held over 1 or 2 weekends in July. Selection is made, using skills sheets, as well as playing ability over the last season and attendance at training. Following the end of the trials the selection committee (made up of team captains, the Club captain and coaches) makes the final selection, teams are then announced in the newsletter.

During the year there are two additional selection meetings, the first in November and the second in February to determine if any changes to teams need to be made.

If you join to the club after the summer selection, then your selection will be made after your third training session. The club captain will then let you know if you have been successful in being placed in one of the squads.

We are always looking for volunteers (playing and non playing) to take up administrative posts on the committee or to try umpiring and coaching. Perhaps you can help with media stories or assist with the running of a junior skills day? So even if you are not able to meet the playing standard there will be other opportunities for you to become involved.

Trials

The trial dates for the 2009/10 season will be set for June/July 2009. Please return nearer the time for a further update on the trials page.

Kit

Palmers Green Netball Kit currently consists of a Navy, blue and white dress. It is optional whether you also order a navy body warmer and base layer.

If you play for a team, you need to purchase the correct kit.

The dress is not required for training. You can wear either a skirt or shorts / tracksuit bottoms, though a white top is preferred.
